In Luke 2, Mary is referenced as keeping things in her heart.

Once when the shepherds come

19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

And once after finding Jesus teaching at the temple:

51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

What do you think it means to “keep something in your heart”?

To me, I think it means a few things.

Remembering. In life, it’s important to ACTUALLY remember these big life moments. When you remember them, you act differently because of what you have experienced.

Constant Learning. Mary probably didn’t 100% understand what was happening. How could she? Her life story is truly 1 in 20 billion. That unknown and confusion didn’t cause her to panic. She simply took the pieces that she did know, kept them in her heart, and waited for further truth and knowledge.

What does “keeping something in your heart” mean to you? Take 2 minutes & jot down anything the spirit brings to mind.

As a parent, follow Mary’s example. Keep things in your heart.
