Hey New Dad,
Crazy that the New Testament kicks off with 17 straight verses talking about dads—fatherhood must be important, I guess.
I’m not a Biblical expert (guessing you aren’t either) so I don’t know all the customs of the Jews at the time. But I can imagine Joseph was going through a tough time.
Never fun to find out your fiancé is pregnant when you know you aren’t the dad.
Joseph faced uncertainty when he learned that Mary was pregnant, but instead of acting out of fear or pride, he responded with compassion, faith, and obedience. He listened to God and trusted in His plan, even if it didn’t make 100% sense to him at the time.
As new dads, there are always new, confusing, stressful situations. It’s important that we all take the time to “[think] on these things” instead of being reactive in the moment.
Taking time to be still will allow angels of the Lord to appear to us, whether in dreams or in our hearts, that will still our soul & bring light to the situation.
Be “[thinking] on these things” fellas
