Hey New Dad,

As a new dad, life can feel overwhelming at times. H*ck, more than “at times.” All the time.

You're balancing the demands of work, family, and everything in between. But remember these words from Matthew 11:28-30:

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Fatherhood is a beautiful but heavy responsibility. In the midst of sleepless nights and endless feedings and diaper changes, Jesus offers us a promise of rest.

He invites us to take His yoke upon us—one that is gentle and light.

So when you feel worn out (which will be early and often), lean on Him.

What does that actually mean? I’m not 100% sure and it’ll be different for everyone. Here are 5 ideas to get you started.

  1. Start with Prayer Being a new father is more fun (and easier) when you’re constantly communicating with your Heavenly Father.
  2. Make time for The Word If you’re reading this, you’re doing a great job here—keep it up
  3. Trust His Grace You won’t get everything right as a new dad, no matter how hard you try. Trust that Christ’s grace is sufficient and can fill in your gaps.
  4. Trust His Plan When things feel out of control (like when the baby won’t stop crying or you’re running on no sleep), remind yourself to trust God’s plan. Surrendering to Him means accepting that you don’t have to have everything figured out, at least right now.
  5. Find Rest in Community: Lean on others—your spouse, family, friends, or your church community. Remember, God works through others. Sometimes leaning on Jesus means accepting help from the people He’s placed in your life.

As you strive to come unto Christ, I promise you will find rest.

You’re doing an incredible job.

Keep going,

New Dad.
